YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID – 2 DAY COURSE The Youth Mental Health First Aid course is designed for adults who live, work or care for adolescents aged 12–18. It provides practical knowledge, confidence and skills to recognise emerging mental health problems and respond appropriately when a young person is experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. This evidence-based course is suitable for teachers, school staff, parents, carers, youth workers, sports coaches, community workers and other adults who support young people. You will learn how to recognise signs of mental health problems, provide appropriate initial support, communicate effectively with a young person and encourage appropriate professional and other support. Topics include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury and other mental health concerns affecting young people. The course uses the Youth Mental Health First Aid action plan to provide a practical framework for responding confidently and appropriately. Learner Access Pass: $20 + GST included. Course duration: 12 hours over 2 days. Suitable for: School staff, parents, carers, youth workers, coaches, community organisations and other adults supporting adolescents.
